Coaching and Tumbling Staff

Bonnie Denico

Bonnie has 13 years experience as a All-Star cheerleading coach.  Her teams have held not only National & Grand Champion titles but have also became International All Levels Champions.  She started with the Laguna Creek Junior Cardinals.  After her first year with the Laguna Creek Junior Cardinals, she was a part of the Executive Board and one of the Director's that helped create the Sacramento Royal All-Stars, where she also coached and remained as one of the Executive Board Director's until it's dissolution.  For the 2011-2012 season she coached at EDGE All-Stars.  This will be her 4th season coaching for the Royal All-Star family.

Bonnie believes competitive cheerleading instruction is more than just teaching the cheer skills.  She feels incorporating discipline, teamwork, and life lessons will better prepare our athletes for the adversities that life will present to them.  She strives to ensure each and every athlete gains self confidence and a good character through their cheerleading experience!

Bonnie's favorite part of coaching is seeing kids learn a new skill and accomplish their goals! She says there is no greater feeling, as a coach, witnessing a child come out of their shell and seeing how cheer has also helped them in all areas outside of the gym!

One of her favorite quotes:
"What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals.”
- Henry David Thoreau

Yael Torrez

Hey my name is Yael Torrez, I have been an athlete my whole life. Playing competitive basketball, soccer, and football. After high-school all of my sports were over, and I decided to give Cheer a shot! I instantly fell in love. I joined Cheer Sac and went to every open gym and my skills flourished. I coached the youth 1 team at Royals Allstars last season. I taught tumbling for Pacific Coast Magic coaching and spotting levels 1-6. I am part of UCA staff! I currently cheer for Sacramento State's Coed cheer team. My favorite aspect of cheer is learning from my athletes; every student learns differently! It makes for an awesome journey when I watch my analogies, and instruction come to life in their tumbling!
